Privacy Policy
Last Updated: September 16, 2026
At Unloop (“we,” “our,” or “us”), we believe that your digital wellbeing tools should protect your personal privacy just as fiercely as they protect your focus.
This Privacy Policy explains how Unloop handles data when you download, install, and use our iOS mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
Core Privacy Principles
- No Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal information to third parties or data brokers. Ever.
- Zero Ads & Zero Tracking: Unloop contains no advertising frameworks, ad networks, or cross-app tracking identifiers (like IDFA).
- Zero Access to Browsing or App Usage: We do not—and technically cannot—view, collect, or store your browsing history, message contents, screen activities, or the specific apps you choose to shield.
- 100% On-Device Enforcement: App shielding and Screen Time controls execute locally on your iPhone using Apple’s privacy-preserving system frameworks.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
Because Unloop is built on Apple’s native Screen Time frameworks (FamilyControls and ManagedSettings), your usage data never leaves your device:
- No App Usage or Browsing Data: When you select apps, categories, or websites to block, Apple handles these selections securely via opaque system tokens. Unloop’s code and servers cannot inspect your web history or see what you do within blocked apps.
- No NFC Tag Tracking: Generic third-party NFC tags you tap to initiate or end focus sessions are processed locally by your iPhone. We do not register, track, or record NFC hardware serial numbers or location tags on external servers.
- No Exact Geolocation Tracking: When you configure Location Zones (geofencing) for libraries, offices, or study spots, location monitoring is evaluated locally on-device via Apple’s CoreLocation framework. Your GPS coordinates, movements, and physical locations are never uploaded or tracked by us.
- No Financial or Payment Data: Any subscription or lifetime purchase is processed directly by Apple through In-App Purchases. We never receive or store your credit card number, bank details, or billing address.
2. Information We Collect (Performance & Diagnostics Only)
The only data we collect is minimal, aggregated, and non-identifiable telemetry collected via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (provided by Google LLC) strictly to diagnose technical faults, measure overall application stability, and optimize app performance:
- Crash Diagnostics & Error Logs: Technical information related to crashes, memory panics, operating system errors, and app state at the time of a failure.
- Device & System Metadata: Generic, non-personally identifiable information such as device model (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro), iOS version (e.g., iOS 18), app version, language setting, and general session duration.
- Aggregated App Performance: Anonymous event metrics (such as whether an onboarding step was completed or if a focus session was initiated) to understand feature reliability and identify bugs.
This technical telemetry is used exclusively for engineering diagnostics, maintaining app stability, and fixing software bugs.
3. How We Use Technical Data
Any diagnostic data collected through Firebase is used solely to:
- Detect, investigate, and prevent technical issues and application crashes.
- Monitor overall app performance, launch times, and API responsiveness.
- Improve UX workflows and identify features that require performance optimizations.
We do not use this information to profile individual users, serve targeted content, or link crash logs to your real-world identity.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We intentionally minimize third-party software dependencies. The only external services involved in the operation of Unloop are:
- Apple Inc. (App Store & In-App Purchases): Manages licensing, digital downloads, app distribution, and subscription payments under Apple’s standard privacy policies.
- Firebase / Google LLC (Analytics & Crashlytics): Provides technical telemetry, crash reporting, and aggregated performance diagnostics. Data sent to Firebase is governed by Google’s Privacy and Security standards.
5. Parental Controls & Children’s Privacy
Unloop includes parental control features designed to help parents and guardians enforce healthy digital habits, restrict mature content, or block unauthorized installations on family devices.
- Unloop does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or applicable local age threshold).
- All restrictions configured under parental control modes operate locally on the managed device via Apple’s
FamilyControlsframework. - If you believe a child has provided us with personal information via support correspondence or feedback, please contact us immediately, and we will delete such information promptly.
6. Data Retention and Security
- Local Storage: Your focus schedules, custom blocking lists, and NFC pairing preferences are stored locally in your iPhone’s secure sandboxed storage and Keychain. Deleting the application removes this local data.
- Diagnostic Telemetry: Crash reports and aggregated telemetry held in Firebase are retained only for standard diagnostic cycles and automatically expire according to Firebase’s retention schedules.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Telemetry Opt-Out: You can control analytical tracking or crash reporting through your device’s native iOS privacy settings (such as disabling “Share iPhone & Watch Analytics” with developers under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements).
- Location Permissions: You can revoke or modify Location Zone permissions at any time via Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Unloop.
- Screen Time Permissions: You can grant, modify, or revoke Screen Time access at any time via iOS Settings.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product updates or technical changes. Any revisions will be reflected with an updated “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
